SHEPHERDSTOWN ROTARY CLUB INDUCTS NEW MEMBER
The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has inducted Col. Adam B. Thomas as a new member.
The induction ceremony was held at the Club's September 7 evening meeting at the Bavarian Inn.
Col. Thomas is Deputy Director for Strategy, Policy, Plans, & International Affairs at the National Guard Bureau Headquarters.
A 32-year member of the West Virginia Air National Guard, he originally enlisted in 1991 and was commissioned in 1997 as a distinguished graduate of the Academy of Military Science at the McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Tennessee.
Col. Thomas was a C-130H3 Instructor Navigator with over 6,000 hours of airlift and airdrop mission experience, of which 481 hours were combat missions.
Over multiple tours at the Air National Guard Readiness Center at Joint Base Andrews, Col. Thomas also served as the liaison between the National Science Foundation and the National Guard Bureau. In that role, he facilitated aircraft support for NSF Antarctic science missions to McMurdo Station and the Amundson-Scott South Pole Station.
Col. Thomas has a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shepherd University, and a Master of Military Arts and Operations from Air University.
He and his wife Shannon own the historic Thomas Shepherd Mill in Shepherdstown. They have a daughter attending WVU.
The Shepherdstown Rotary Club comprises two groups of members: a morning group that meets weekly on Tuesdays, and an evening group that meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at Shepherdstown's Bavarian Inn.
