SHEPHERDSTOWN COMMUNITY PICNIC SET FOR 4TH OF JULY
Shepherdstown will not have an 4th of July parade this year because of continuing concerns over the Covid pandemic. However, the Shepherdstown Rotary Club will again sponsor a picnic for residents of the Shepherdstown community, as it has done for many years.
The picnic will be held on Sunday, the 4th, at Morgan's Grove Park. It will start at 12:30 pm and last until 3:30 or so.
It will be held rain or shine.
Admission will be free.
This year's picnic will be a simplified version of the picnics of previous years, again because of continuing concerns over Covid.
There will be live music, with two popular local bands, The Speakeasy Boys and the Gypsy Ramblers.
There will also be some children's activities, including face painting and the always popular display wild birds by the Trego Mountain Sanctuary. But there will not be a waterslide.
Also, the Rotary Club will not be selling food or beverages this time. Instead, people are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunches.
Shepherdstown's Common Share Food Truck will be there selling food; it specializes in street-style cuisine such as hot dogs, half-smoke sausages, beef brisket, pulled pork, and fresh grilled country sausages at affordable prices. Kona Ice of Martinsburg will also be on hand selling shaved ices in a wide variety of flavors.
There is plenty of parking at the park.
